Rally For Kids http://www.teamcpx.com/blog Louisianna to Michigan Fri, 03 Oct 2008 15:29:54 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.6.2 en Chi-town via Arkansas via Missouri http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=48 http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=48#comments Fri, 03 Oct 2008 15:29:54 +0000 admin http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=48 So Missouri sucked! Okay not the state or the people in it, they were great! We sucked playing in Missouri. We played an intense day racking up points and bonus looking to take back 1st and wouldn’t you know it we forgot to take an important picture that cost us 50 points. Ah and it was a special defeat because we rolled into the final destination at the Bentley dealership in St. Louis to simply be shot in the ass with one question… “Where is the picture of the statue of liberty…” Ahhh what a day

Okay so check this out, never thought that I would be able to say that I’ve been running through the corn fields of Arkansas doing 100 but now its apart of our personal history. Seriously there is nothing like going down a two-way two lane highway with nothing but corn on the left of you and corn on the right of you. Our missions had gotten harder, hard to the point where we had no idea if we were even in the right place. We got through our missions but it took much longer than expected.

There is a reason for that…

Prior to this day Shaun lost his lucky penny and it all went to hell since then. Luckily though as we passed through Pontiac Illinois (via route 66) I found an antique coin place and got Shaun and a couple of lucky pennies. So after that we got our mojo back and we are pulling back into the race looking to finish in the top 5.

Seriously if you can withstand the cold of Illinois winters… this is a place to live we were in Dupage Illinois and there were some insane property with all of the comforts of a big city just 20 min away.

Driving Drunk… http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=45 http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=45#comments Tue, 30 Sep 2008 20:15:31 +0000 admin http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=45 Ok, so yesterday wasn’t the best day for TeamCPX. We did well on all the missions except the last. We had to find a flying fish and take a picture under it somewhere in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It turned out to be a little fish sculpture on a corner downtown that you could crawl under for the pic. I guess we were thinking too big and ended up driving around in circles for 45min looking for it. We placed 22 out of 43, so our 2nd place position is going to drop some.

Then we had to do an autocross set up by the Tuscloosa police. This was no normal autocross, I don’t think you can even call it that. It was more an obstacle course with very tight figure eight turns and circles. Most cars could not make it through the course without backing up and doing 2-3 point turns through some parts. Then to top it off they made us wear these goggles that simulated being drunk. It made it very hard to see especially trying to figure out distances. It looked like there was cones everywhere. In fact I hit the first five cones off the start and that was just a straight part..  By the end I had knocked down a total of 14 cones which put us in 25th out of 43. So apparently I’m not very good at driving drunk, it was definitely a lot harder than I thought it would be.

On a good note one of our missions was to bring children’s books to city hall. Carlton being the good guy that he is bought 260 books! That was the 2nd most out of everyone and as a reward the top 3 got a key to the city of Tuscaloosa from the mayor himself. So Carlton now has the key to the city.. watch out!

Right now we are done with todays missions and about to do another autocross to finish the day off. This one looks like a normal one. Carlton is going to give this one a shot. Today went much better so far, we placed somewhere in the top 10 for the missions part. More on todays missions and the autocross later..

Over the river… http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=36 http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=36#comments Mon, 29 Sep 2008 00:55:18 +0000 admin http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=36 So the day started out good, a nice 7:00 roll call over to the staging area. We hop in the car wait for the flag to drop and bounce outta Shreveport La.

Next stop, Jackson Mississippi!

Of course it wouldn’t be an adventure if it were as simple as get to Jackson…

So to get one of our bonus points we had to find the grave site of the ambush of Bonnie and Clyde. We took a turn that we thought would get us to the grave, HOWEVER we ended up in the back roads of the back roads. The Charger being the low to the ground car that it is, was basically shoveling rocks as we traversed the rocky path. Now think about this, rocky ass road, NO cell signals and NO internet… yup if something went wrong we would have been completely screwed.

Then we ended up here

Lucky for us we got across this and guess what we actually ended up right where we needed to be. Go freaking figure!
BTW what are these?

Any how we ended up in Jackson Mississippi with the car fully intact.

Tomorrow is going to be a hell of a day as we should end up in Tuscaloosa after around 7hrs of driving.

And we are off http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=22 http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=22#comments Sat, 27 Sep 2008 17:18:44 +0000 admin http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=22 We lined up at the starting line wished the gracious Mayor of Baton Rouge (Kip) Holden farewell and started the rally of the year!

We are currently in Woodville Mississippi on US-61going north. Our destination clue leads us to a rebel from another time period who married his younger cousin. Don’t worry gang it took us mere minutes to find where we had to go.

So if we know where we are going then hey we might as well get the bonus points along the way!!

We ended up today in Shreveport Louisiana, there are TONS of casinos here. Staying at a kick ass Hilton and seriously… good thing because the team is beat, it’s definetly going to be an early night.

Shaun in heat!!! http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=20 http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=20#comments Fri, 26 Sep 2008 17:44:36 +0000 admin http://www.teamcpx.com/blog/?p=20 Team CPX member Shaun B. is racing on the track right now. However before that the team decal’d the charger up. Now it’s a sticker masterpiece.

Shaun is racing against a couple of lamborghini’s, a couple of chargers, and tons of other cool cars. This is the official kick off to the “game”. More later…

So Shaun ended up ninth with an impressive time of 00:01:43.0505 on a 2 mile JETS Police Race Track

Overall TeamCPX is in 2nd place overall

Where the weather isn’t the only thing that’s hot n steamy. We drove around taking in the local sites and getting familiar with the culture that is New Orleans.

This is the prequel to the cross journey adventure that we are soon to partake in. Fireball Run here we come!!

How about embarrass yourself in front of would be shoppers? Ah so you know what happened next don’t you. TJ and me were thrilled to drive the blue bee to the mall and take random pictures of us rocking out to 80’s drab. What an entertaining predicament we put ourselves in… Ah the cheers… oh wait that was laughter wasn’t it.
